The board of the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park voted unanimously to ban climbing Australia's iconic Uluru landmark beginning October 2019, according to BBC News. The vote was on behalf of indigenous sensitivities since the giant rock is a sacred site for Aboriginal Australians in the Northern Territory. Locals have long requested that visitors stop climbing the outcrop, which is also known as Ayers Rock.
